Valentines and the Super Bowl

This past weekend, we enjoyed another exciting Super Bowl. The game was all about defense, the half time show was a colorful occasion, and the commercials were the usual mix of strange and intriguing.

Thanks to the 50 Fund, the Super Bowl had special meaning for us here at The Leaven, as we received a special grant to continue and improve our services in Northern California so more children can succeed in school.

Whether you’re a football fan or not, helping kids and families succeed is something to celebrate.

But that’s not all we’ve been up to. We also had our annual Valentines for the Troops event as part of our Leaven Gives Back program. We partner directly with the service men and women at Travis Air Force Base to create and deliver handmade Valentine’s from our students to troops stationed abroad, and studnets in Southern California made valentines for family membes serving in the military.

This  time of sharing is a great community get-together, and is always a fun event for the children. But most importantly, we hope that these special Valentines bring a smile to the troops who give so much to our country.

There’s plenty more going on at each of our programs, so be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook feed for all the details. And don’t forget, the Solano Great Race is kicking off on April 7th. Be sure to sign your team up for this face-paced event that benefits The Leaven!

Together we are helping kids and communities rise!
