The Gift of Time

One of the keys to The Leaven’s success is our amazing troop of volunteers who help out at our programs every day. Our volunteers help students learn reading and math, but the greatest gift they give to our students is their time and attention. Each program servers up to 30 children, so the more volunteers we have, the more individual attention we can give to each student.

Spring and summer are great times to try volunteering for The Leaven for the first time. As the weather grows warmer, our students will spend more time outside, enjoying nature and playing games with their friends.

And there isn’t just outdoor fun and games because Summer Success programs focus on reading with special theme weeks to teach our students new lessons every day. This means there are lots of opportunities for them to learn — and lots of opportunities for you to join us.

If you enjoy art and painting, you can share your talents with our students, or if your favorite pastime is playing baseball, you can help teach our students how to play. You can even just come and read a book to our students, helping to show them the joyful worlds that can be found within the pages of a good book.

Whatever your talents or skills you bring, by sharing them with our students you’ll help to make a big difference in their lives.

Still not sure if volunteering for The Leaven is right for you? Give us a call or send an email to arrange a visit at any of our programs, either for a single day of volunteering or just to observe. But be warned – just one visit and you just might be inspired to volunteer again to help our terrific Leaven kids succeed!

We hope you’ll join us in the coming months! If you have any questions about volunteering for The Leaven, contact us at Together we are helping kids and communities rise.
