One Year, Big Changes!

On Tuesday morning I woke up to a very unusual sound here in Southern California: rain. In fact, it rained the entire day, causing more than a few traffic difficulties, but giving our ground some much needed moisture.

The next morning, Facebook greeted me with a reminder of a post I had made one year before. It was a screenshot from my phone showing the temperature at 104 degrees. Out of curiosity, I checked the weather and found out that the temperature this year was only 74 degrees, a 30 degree difference.

What a difference just one year later! It always fun to look back and see how much things have changed, and with our Annual Gala just a few days away, I’m reminded of all the changes that have taken place at The Leaven over the past year.

The Annual Gala is our launch pad for change for the entire year. It’s not only a refreshing event that motivates us for the year to come, but also a great opportunity for our friends in Northern California to show their support of The Leaven and help us make a big difference for our Leaven kids.

Thanks to the support of all our friends — including those who attended our Gala last year — we were able to open 4 new centers this past year, both in Northern and Southern California. These new centers have helped our neighborhoods grow strong, both in old communities and new.

And just a few weeks ago we held a special event for our friends in Southern California. With these two events pushing us into the fall, we know we will end this year strong!

We’re anticipating many exciting changes this coming year after this weekend’s annual Gala. Thank you to all of our friends and supporters in both Northern and Southern California who make The Leaven strong. Together we are helping kids and communities rise.
