Junior Heroes

As you may know, volunteers are at the very heart of our Leaven programs. These dedicated givers make our programs great. But what you might not know is that not all of our volunteers are adults; we also have a dedicated group of junior volunteers!

These older students are an amazing resource for our programs. They stop by after school and help some of our youngest students with their homework and reading, some coming by every single day.

These amazing preteens and teens give so much of their time to their younger neighbors, and make a huge difference. They are like big brothers and sisters around the center, helping to encourage and inspire our students. They are so influential on the lives of our students, reminding them to keep working hard so they can be just as cool when they get older. Some of our students even come back and become junior volunteers themselves after they graduate, eager to give back just like their favorite volunteer did for them.

Becoming a junior volunteer is a great way for junior high or high school student teens to give back, and it looks great on college resumes! It’s a lot of fun, and a rewarding experience for everyone. If you know a preteen or teen who is looking for a chance to give back, now is a great time to sign-up to volunteering at The Leaven?

Summer is just around the corner and that brings the start of our Summer Success programs. Summer Success includes lots of fun outdoor play, arts and crafts, and even field trips — making it an exciting time to volunteer, no matter your age.

Leaven Volunteers make impossible dreams achievable for our students. They bring new hope to these young lives. If you have a preteen or teen in your life that is interested in volunteering for The Leaven, consider joining them. It’s sure to be a great experience for both of you. We hope you’ll join us this summer as we help kids and communities rise.
