Congratulations Chief

The Leaven is excited to announce that our very own Board President, Captain Joe Allio, has just been named the next Police Chief of Fairfield! Joe has been a member of the Fairfield Police Department for the past 25 years, and we congratulate him on this new leadership position.

UntitledJoe will be replacing Chief Walt Tibbet, a longtime Leaven supporter, who will be retiring from the Police Force this spring. Chief Tibbet has worked closely with our organization and the community at large since he became Police Chief in 2010. We congratulate him on his retirement and thank him for his commitment and service to our community.

The Fairfield Police Department has been a strong friend and supporter of our Leaven programs since we first began our mission. We are excited that Joe will be leading the force beginning this spring, and we are grateful that our community has embraced our organization.

“As a career police officer, there’s one thing I am sure of:  We are not going to arrest our way out of crime.  If we’re serious about having safe communities, we have to education our children so they can grow up to be the kinds of citizens who care about others and the places where they live.

“That’s why I am passionate about The Leaven.  At each center, we’re giving boys and girls the opportunity to have their lives influenced by people who care about them and who want them to have a future filled with promise. “ – Joe Allio (from The Leaven’s Fall 2014 newsletter)

Congratulations again to Chief Walt Tibbet on your retirement, and Captain Joe Allio on your promotion. We are so thankful to both of you for your support of The Leaven, and for joining us in helping kids and communities rise.
